Only clear and distinct knowledge is relevant to philosophy, while aesthetics does not require such ideas, only clear and confused ideas. To Baumgarten, aesthetics is meaningful on condition that an object has the effect of giving a vivid impression and that the beautiful is more positive in value than deformity. In other words, what is important in aesthetics is vivid perception rather than the clearness of ideas (Aesthetica, sec. 14). Thus, aesthetics in its origin implied disregard for the content of an idea and never cared about reality in so far as some ideas emerge as the aesthetic.

Rasa as an experience, projective or perceptive, is mixed up with many factors, internal or external. Some of the internal factors have already been indicated above. If those factors are phenomenologically further reflected upon, one will find various other nuances which are not ordinarily discussed and recognized. The external factors which influence the experience, designation and expressions of rasa are also numerous.
