There are combinations of letters in Yiddish to account for consonant sounds that do not exist in Hebrew, such as zh (like the second "g" in "garage" or the "s" in "measure"), dzh (j as in judge) and tsh (like the "ch" in chair). Just like in English, you will have plural forms of words, and you have to make the number agree in sentences in order for them to make sense. Commonly the rules are bent when acronyms are formed using the first and second letters (or more) from component words, and/or when words such as 'to' and 'the' and 'of' in the phrase or word-series do not contribute to the acronym, for example LASER (Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation).
